SolarEdge Inverter
Description
Quick-Start This video allows you to integrate your SolarEdge installation (with Grid-Meter, PV & Battery) in less than 5 Minutes using the example configuration & template provided on this page:
Example Configuration The example configuration file gives you a good starting point & shows how to properly connect the inputs provided by the Modbus template to our most recent function blocks. As seen in the video, you can copy the blocks directly to your project. The example configuration showcases the integration of an SolarEdge inverter with a Grid Meter and two Batteries connected to it.
What about the RAW/SF inputs in the template? Instead of providing power/energy values in floating point format (e.g. 1,003), some of the values are provided using two sensors, raw & scaling factor – and need to be converted to a proper floating point format first. This is also showcased in the provided example configuration file, where formula blocks are used to convert the values.

OpenGood morning, I am a beginner in connecting the inverter over TCP IP. Unfortunately, connecting according to the template you posted on the export page does not agree with consumption. Please help or correct this example. Janusz

Hello Janusz,
For SolarEdge it is important to introduce a scale value in a formula to recieve the correct values over modbus. This info you van find in the modbus documentation of the inverter and also in the short description of this integration.
For example, a value “Value” may have an associated value “Value_SF”
Value = “Value” * 10^ Value_SF for example:
For “Value” = 2071 and “Value_SF” = -2 Value = 2071*10^-2 = 20.71
For “Value” = 2071 and “Value_SF” = 2 Value = 2071*10^2 = 207100
Please keep in mind that config examples are there to inform you about a possible integration, but that this is still an example for a specific use case, in practice the addresses or configuration can change when you are implementing this for a different inverter or use case.
Update the Library with Battery Details
OpenFirst of all, thank you for doing the hard work of implementing this Plugin/Library. I have installed a SolarEdge Inverter at home and integrated it in Loxone. However I have found that the battery details or not in the Library. Could you maybe update the Library with the 3 Registries that hold the data for the battery? Or, I don't really know how this works here, but I could also do it and update the Library if you give me the Thumbs up.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello Laszlo,
This template is en integration for solar inverters, the documentation in this template is for more than solar inverters. This so you can personally expand the template if needed. for the needed use case.
I do agree that this template can use an expansion for battery system. But this should be a different upload. If you already have this template ready. Would you be open to make a new upload for a battery integrated template? Here you can find the guidelines and proces to upload a new template: https://library.loxone.com/guideline
Hello Dennis,
I can save the configuration as a template and upload it. I will also link this library in the description if the battery details are not needed.
Thank you for your reply
Hello Laszlo, could you provide me with a template for Solaredge? I am a beginner and it would help me a lot, thank you Martin Vinduska - [email protected]
Hi I found these details online for the battery but I have no idea how to implement it?
If anyone is interested: here are the registers:
57709-57710 Battery1 Temp (hex2float) 57712-57713 Battery1 Voltage (hex2float) 57714-57715 Battery1 Current (hex2float) 57716-57717 Battery1 Power (hex2float) 57730-57731 Battery1 SOH (hex2float) 57732-57733 Battery1 SOC (hex2float)
Hello Laszlo,
I would be really happy if I get access on a plugin version, where the battery data are reported as well !!! So, have you succeeded in uploading it into the portal ?! Or could you supply a different link, where we could download that plugin ?!
Thanks a lot for your help in advance !! BR Hubert

Export limit
OpenHi,
I came across this document from SolarEdge. This should allow you to limit your export power using modbus, however I cannot seem to get it to work. It would be very nice if this register could be added to the template. With this value we can then limit our power export to 0 during negative electricity prices. This would greatly increase the ROI of my solar panel system in combination of Loxone and is another good use case/selling point for Loxone. Example we had 5 hours of -0.43ct/kW at that time I sent over 25kW back to the grid which I could not use whist using 10kW of my own power . This cost me €12.5 otherwise I would have earned €4. These situations will become more frequent. https://knowledge-center.solaredge.com/sites/kc/files/sunspec-implementation-technical-note.pdf
Best regards,

Hello Jim,
Do you already have a working example where you are using the modbus register to limit your export power? If you have this than you can send this to the loxone e-mail address of your country and address it with a header 'loxone library ....'
If you do not have this working example I am afraid that we are not able to add this to the template than. This template is created a few years ago for a specific use case, there is a documentation added so you can expend the template for your use cases if need, it can be that modbus addresses for other inverters can differ upon the model. To expend an already existing template we need a new template of a working example in practice. As we do not have a SolarEdge inverter to test this on we can not expand the existing template.
Hi, this document describes much more options to control the power production of your SolarEdge Inverter: https://www.photovoltaikforum.com/core/attachment/88445-power-control-open-protocol-for-solaredge-inverters-pdf/
But this is really for experienced users!
I used it to activate charge the battery also from a Hoymiles inverter. For this you need to set "Storage AC charge policy" to 1. I also use it to limit the discharge of the battery to 1kW. This is "Remote Control Dischage Limit". But before these setting work, you first need to set "Storage Control Mode" to 4. And this setting change need to be committed by setting 1 to Commit Power Control Setting.
I don't list the addresses here, because please read the document understand whcih parts are necessary for you and which don't.
And keep in mind SolarEdge can notice all your changes in their cloud!

Richtige Werte Einstellen
OpenHey,

SolarEdge - Status Inverter
OpenHello,
I have established for a customer, a communciation with his SolarEdge inverter. It works. I want to use the I_Status information to make à monitoring of the status to be warned in case of trouble. I supposed there is at least 5 different status because It returns sometime the value "5". I would like to know the signigication of these status (especially the fault status). SolarEdge refuse to give me the information... Can you help me ?
Thanks Best regards

In the new Loxone Config Sample file uploaded, the I_Status is already connected to a status block, that shows the current status. However it does not go into detail any further, on that front you'll have to rely on the information provided by SolarEdge.
Hi,
in the attached documentation the status is explained:
Parameter Value Description I_STATUS_OFF 1 Off I_STATUS_SLEEPING 2 Sleeping (auto-shutdown) – Night mode I_STATUS_STARTING 3 Grid Monitoring/wake-up I_STATUS_MPPT 4 Inverter is ON and producing power I_STATUS_THROTTLED 5 Production (curtailed) I_STATUS_SHUTTING_DOWN 6 Shutting down I_STATUS_FAULT 7 Fault I_STATUS_STANDBY 8 Maintenance/setup

Also an V angeschlossen. Hier die nötige Formel: IF(I1<I2;IF(I1<I3;IF(I2<I3;I2;I3);I1);IF(I1<I3;I1;IF(I2<I3;I3;I2))) Es sind also 7 zusätzliche Bausteine nötig, da es leider kein Median gibt.

Ausgangslage: Insgesamt 5 SolarEdge Wechselrichter
1 Master - 4 Slave (Per Modbus-Kabel verbunden). Ebenfalls alle Wechelrichter per LAN verbunden (Feste IP, Modbus TCP aktiviert, Adressen zugewiesen und funktioniert)
1. SolarEdge Wechselsrichter (Master) Mit Batterie 1 verbunden Mit SmartMeter (SolarEdge) per Modbus verbunden Mit Slave Wechselrichter per Modbus verbunden Modbus TCP aktiviert und über Port 1502 mit ID 15 erreichbar.

Hello Michael,
If all inverters are connected to the network than you need to add al inverters in the loxone system. If only on is connected all communication is going trough this inverter to our system. So depending on the setup you make you need to add all.
If you have problems regarding the energy flow monitor you need to use for the PV the meter blocks and set them to production in the energy flow monitor.
For battery you need to use the storage meter and for grid you nee to use the Bidirectional meter and set this to grid. normally than you should have to correct energy flow.
Blockweise Lesen von Modbus-Registern
OpenHallo Zusammen
Gruss Martin
1 reply
Hello,
At the moment this is not possible. If you have features you can always report this here: https://www.loxone.com/dede/support/#:~:text=Ihre%20Feature%2DAnfrage
In the mean time I have reported this feature.
What I can suggest to get them synchronized is to delete the inputs on modbus and save into the miniserver. Than add the registers again set the request time the same and add them to the page, than save in the miniserver. This should help in syncing them.
We also have the function block ‘value validator’ to hold wrong values so they do not get to the function block. Also all meter blocks have the build in function to report inconsistent values and not at them to the statistics.
I would suggest using this function block always as you reported to us that the solaredge sometimes sends a wrong values to us and this we can not solve with the syncing.
Where can I find documentation regarding Modbus registers used for Battery/Energy management?
OpenHello, documentation attached to the SolarEdge integration does not contain any Modbus registers related to batteries used in the example project, do you know where can I find this documentation? Is there any plan to extend this integration by Energy Management (Storage Control Mode, Charge/Discharge Strategy etc.). Having this possibility is crucial to use Spot Price Optimizer to charge batteries when energy price is low/lowest. I was able to find some registers responsible for these settings on some forums, but cannot find any official documentation..
Kind regards, Marcin

Hello Marcin,
The documentation regarding the control of the battery is not publicly available therefore we are not able to add this documentation online and we are not able to give an update on the template. When this documentation will be publicly available we will review the template and give an update where needed. But at the moment we are not able to make an update to this template, regarding battery control.
Import in Version 16

Hello Christian,
We have done a test in the latest release version and ALPHA version and we are able to import the template in both cases.
Please test again, close the config fully and open it again after the import of the template.
modbus template solaredge

Register addresses
OpenAre the addresses for B1 and B2 correct as in the example? B1_Instantaneous_Power 57716 B1_State_of_Energy 57732 B2_Instantaneous_Power 57988 B2_State_of_Energy 57972
I think it should be: B2_Instantaneous_Power 57972 B2_State_of_Energy 57988
And is a maximum of two batteries supported? I have three. Does anyone have experience with more than two batteries?

Grid consumption wrong since config 17.0
OpenI updated to config 17 earlier this week and since that time I'm experiencing issues with the data for grid import/export. I've a battery and solar panels attached as well as measurements for the heat pump and pool house. All of those measurements still seem to be fine.
The issue i'm seeing is on the M_Import and M_export. They are connected to the grid bidirectional meter on Mrc and Mrd. If I'm using live view I notice they are about 6670kwh and 1390kwh which seems strange. It might be the cumulative? not even sure exactly.
If i go into the enery flow monitor in the app I see if it's on the power tab all data seems to be correct. But as soon as I move to the day tab for instance I notice wild consumption data for grid. Like 1mwh per day while other consumers are not even close to that. I've also added some video's of what is happening visually.
Also I get an error/warning once a day since the update that tells me "Meter Reading Decreased" It gives me the option to reset meter readings. but I'm afraid by doing so I'll lose all my previous recorded data.
