Nuki Smart Lock Integration
Content languageEnglish
Description
It is an easy retrofit to existing door locks and integrates with smart home systems, allowing for remote control and automation. Using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, the Nuki Smart Lock can be operated via the Nuki App, the Nuki Keypad, Nuki Web or the Nuki Web API. Nuki also supports features such as geofencing for automatic unlocking, detailed access logs and voice control.
This template allows seamless integration of the Nuki Smart Lock into a Loxone Smart Home setup, enabling full automation of access control and interaction with other Loxone components.
Included functionalities Integrating the Nuki Smart Lock into your Loxone system provides a range of features that make managing your keyless access more efficient and convenient. These functionalities offer both automation and real-time control, ensuring a secure and connected environment. Key features include:
- Lock/Unlock command: With a simple tap in the Loxone app or an automated scene, you can lock or unlock your door remotely, no matter where you are. This feature uses the Nuki API to ensure seamless communication between the lock and your smart home system. Whether you're welcoming a guest or securing your home while away: this function gives you the opportunity to exercise full control and enjoy peace of mind.
- Monitor the status of your door: The Loxone app allows you to check the current status of your Smart Lock at any time. Simply open your app to check if your door is locked or unlocked. This real-time feedback provides peace of mind, especially when you are away from home.
- Auto Unlock/ Auto Lock command: Integrating with Loxone’s presence detection, the Nuki Smart Lock can automatically lock or unlock your door based on your proximity to the house. As you approach, the door unlocks for you, and when you leave, it locks behind you—no interaction needed.
- Event logs: The system allows you to track and review every event where your door is locked or unlocked. All events are recorded in detailed event logs. You can access them easily in Loxone Config. This feature is ideal for monitoring when family members, guests, or service providers enter and leave your home.
- Notifications: Get immediate alerts whenever someone locks or unlocks the door. Whether it’s your kids coming home from school or a guest arriving, you’ll receive real-time push notifications that keep you in the loop.
- Voice assistant integration: Control your Nuki Smart Lock effortlessly using voice commands via Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri. Whether you want to lock the door as you head out or check its status without lifting a finger, voice integration makes it simple and convenient.
- Battery monitoring: Loxone integration allows you to monitor the battery status of your Nuki Smart Lock in real time. When the battery is running low, you’ll receive an alert so you have enough time to replace them.
Integration with Loxone Requirements:
- Nuki Smart Lock (version 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 or 5th Generation) with enabled Remote Access. - Remote Access can be achieved in different ways depending on the version: Via the Nuki Bridge (required for version 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0), through the built-in Wi-Fi module (available only in the Nuki Smart Lock 4.0 Pro and 5th Generation), or by using Matter over Thread (supported by version 4.0 and 5th Generation in combination with a compatible Matter hub) - Nuki Web Account - Loxone Miniserver (with Loxone Config 12.x or later) - Not compatible with Miniserver Gen1 or Miniserver Go Gen1
Communication method
- Nuki Web API
Installation Guide To integrate your Nuki Smart Lock with the Loxone Miniserver via the Nuki Web API, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Set up the Nuki Smart Lock and Nuki Web
1. Install the Nuki Smart Lock: Just download the Nuki App and follow the instructions to mount the Smart Lock on your door and pair it with your Nuki App. 2. Enable the Remote Access of the Nuki Smart Lock: Bring your Nuki Smart Lock by either pairing a Nuki Bridge, bringing it online via the integrated WiFi (Pro only) or by pairing it to a Matter hub which supports Thread (4th generation only). Ensure the properly working remote access by checking the Connection status in the Nuki App: 3. Tap on your Nuki Smart Lock in the Nuki App and open the settings 4. Navigate to connection status: The Nuki App shows you detailed information about the connection status of your Nuki Smart Lock. The connection quality of all components to each other is color-coded. 5. Green = stable connection between the components 6. Orange = limited connection between the components 7. Grey = no connection 8. Activate Nuki Web via your Nuki App: 9. Open the Nuki App on your smartphone 10. Tap on your Nuki Smart Lock in the Nuki App and open the settings 11. Navigate to “Features & Configuration” 12. Select “Nuki Web” and follow the instructions provided in the Nuki App. 13. Verify your account: Activating your device for Nuki Web will create a Nuki Web account. You can complete the activation through Email verification, sign in with Apple or Google. 14. Generate Nuki Web API Token 15. Log into your Nuki Web account 16. Go to the API section and generate a new API token. This token will be used later for communication between Loxone and the Nuki Smart Lock. Important: Save the API Token immediately! The API token will only be shown once. Copy and store it in a secure location (e.g., a password manager). If the token is lost, you will need to delete the entry and generate a new token. 17. Retrieve your Nuki Smart Lock ID 18. Open the Nuki App and navigate to the device settings → “Features & Configuration” → “General” → “Device ID” 19. Convert your device ID from hexadecimal to decimal. Before converting the device ID, add a "0" prefix in front of the hexadecimal number for Nuki Smart Lock Gen 1 and Gen 2, add a "4" prefix in front of the hexadecimal number for Nuki Smart Lock Gen 3 and Gen 4 and add a "5" for the newest Smart Lock Generation Smart Lock Go/Pro/Ultra. Use an online converter such as the RapidTables Hex to Decimal Converter, to complete this task. For further details, visit the Nuki Developer Guide.
Step 2: Configure Loxone Miniserver
1. Access Loxone Config: Open Loxone Config software on your computer and connect your Loxone Miniserver. 2. Download the template from the Loxone Library 3. Add the template to the Virtual Outputs 4. Add the template to your project after downloading and importing. 5. Prepare Loxone for integration
- Adjust the properties (Virtual Outputs) - Adress: https://api.nuki.io
- Adjust the properties (Virtual Output Command)
Replace Placeholders:
- <YourLockID> with the decimal version of your Nuki Device ID (remember to add the “0”, “4” or “5” prefix) - <YourAPIToken> with the API token you generated earlier.
Important: Be careful when editing the template. Removing or misplacing hidden characters may cause malfunction. Only keep curly brackets ({}) in the HTTP body for the "ON" commands. This is how this could look like in a practical use case:
Step 3a: Configure Functions in Loxone
1. Basic functions 2. The template includes four essential functions: Lock, Unlock, Unlatch and Getdata 3. Each action sends an HTTP request to the Nuki Web API, allowing you to control your Nuki Smart Lock remotely. 4. Add more functions: 5. You can add additional commands by updating the HTTP body with different action numbers: 6. 1 = Unlock 7. 2 = Lock 8. 3 = Unlatch 9. 4 = Lock ‘n’ Go 10. 5 = Lock ‘n’ Go with Unlatch 11. For more advanced functions, please check the Nuki Web API documentation.
Step 3b: Configure Virtual HTTP Input
To be able to monitor the Status of the Smart Lock, you need a user on the miniserver. A separate user should be created for security reasons. This user only needs the permission for Web Interface/Apps.
1. Create a user with the permission for Web Interface/Apps 2. Download the Virtual Input Template (NUKI States) from the Download section 3. Add the template to the Virtual Inputs 4. Adjust the properties (Virtual Inputs)
Replace Placeholders:
- <username> with the name of the user you have created - <userpassword> with the password of the user - <ip-address> with the ip-address of the Miniserver
Basic States functions
- The template includes three essential functions: Battery, Battery Warning, and Lock States - Battery: returns the state of charge of the battery in % - Battery Warning: returns a logical 1 when the battery charge level drops below 20% - Lock States: returns the status of the smart lock - 0 = uncalibrated - 1 = locked - 2 = unlocking - 3 = unlocked - 4 = locking - 5 = unlatched - 6 = unlocked (while lock’n’go is active) - 7 = unlatching - 254 = motor blocked - 255 = undefined
Step 4: Test the integration
1. Test basic functions 2. After importing the template and configuring the settings, test the Lock, Unlock and Unlatch commands from the Loxone app to ensure proper functionality. 3. Test additional features: 4. Use the Nuki Web API Swagger Interface to test all possible actions and verify the responsiveness of each command. 5. Ensure the lock status is reflected correctly in the Loxone system for accurate monitoring.

Nuki HTTP Inputs monitoring States
OpenHello, I didn't really understand the part where you monitor the Smart Lock Status using the HTTP Input, I have tried the template you have provided and it doesn't seem to work, I am also getting a message from Loxone saying that the mentioned HTTP Input doesn't recieve any data. I also didn't get the part where we use a set Loxone User and the Loxone Miniserver IP.
Could you help me out or explain it just a bit more thoroughly?
Thanks

Nuki Go implementierung im Loxone
OpenHallo Nuki Support,

Wichtig ist das bei der DeviceId der Prefix nicht vergessen wird ( add a "0" prefix in front of the hexadecimal number for Nuki Smart Lock Gen 1 and Gen 2, add a "4" prefix in front of the hexadecimal number for Nuki Smart Lock Gen 3 and Gen 4 and add a "5" for the newest Smart Lock Generation Smart Lock Go/Pro/Ultra.)

Bart
NUKI Status

Lock State: empfangen 27840 Bytes, Befehlserkennung fehlgeschlagen. data:
hat hierzu ggf. auch jemand eine Lösung?
Hallo Felix,
Ich habe nur Folgendes ausgefüllt. Dadurch habe ich die richtigen Daten.
"state":\s18\v
"batteryCritical":\1
"batteryCharge":\v
Hallo,
Habe die Befehle wie du eingegeben.
Leider ohne erfolg.

Integration NUKI Smart Lock Pro (5. Generation)
OpenHallo,
Vielen Dank vorab.
Grüßé

Nuki / Loxone in USA
OpenI saw we can purchase Nuki locks from Amazon is USA, the reason we are interested in your lock is integration with Loxone. Does the lock works directly with Loxone or needs a bridge? How will it integrate with Loxone? Is there an updated template to make installation easier? Will all the information from the lock like door and battery status transfers to Loxone? And last how about the Door sensor integration with Loxone to show if the door is left open. We are Loxone installers in Los Angeles and looking for a reliable door lock integration. Thanks Robert

Template Virtual Input Missing
OpenThe link to download the Virtual Input Template is missing. Can you please fix this?
Hi Tim. Have a look in the Overview all the way in the bottom under "additional downloads" you will find it. (I also initially thought it was missing, but it's all there ;-) .
Note that you will need to trigger a pulse to the "getdata" in the virtual output to update the status... I'm just doing it currently 1x/day to get battery status/warmings. if you want to see/use the locked status you will need to pull data more often. For the Nuki Smart Lock Go, it is working for me (outputs and inputs of battery, lock status doesn't seem correct, but I'm still testing)... note that if you have a Gen5 Smart Lock Pro, you'll need to update the link as per Ales Pravda comment below. (Nuki gen5 Smart Lock Pro States URL: http://username:password@ipofminiserver:80/dev/fsget/user/common/NUKI_state.html )
Good luck

Get Nuki status for V5
OpenHi everyone,
If you have the V5 Nuki and have trouble with getting the status of the battery state. I found the solution.
I kept getting 404 error on the mini server when manually opening the NUKI_state.html page. I found out that the API request for getting the lock information failed.
Step 1 Change the "getdata" command. Change the following: OLD: /smartlock/<lockID>/action NEW: /smartlock/<lockID>
Now when you trigger "getdata" the information is received from Nuki.
Step 2 Change the following variables for getting the information: Battery Waning (1 when critically low) New command: "batteryCritical":\1
Battery state New command: batteryCharge":\v
Lock state: New command: mode":\istate":\i\v
Hopefully this helps some people out.

Integration isn’t too complicated if you follow the instructions carefully. However, I’m deducting points for the mandatory online requirement. I really would have liked to continue using Nuki locally and offline. With the Web API, there’s no way to open the door without an internet connection…
