Description

This plugin allows you to use Loxone as a custom video recorder giving you the ability to trigger/schedule recordings, set the length of time you want to record and pick which camera you want to record from. The recordings are stored in MP4 format on the recording server or local network drive so you can easily view them in any browsers or on any device.

This works with or without existing Network of Digital Video Recorders (NVRs / DVRs), by essentially piggy backing on the cameras RTSP feed.

With Loxone as the trigger point it provides a lot of off grid video control. Want a video of somebody who's opened your gun safe? No problem. When the door opens Loxone sends a command through Virtual Outputs to the local Captive Server to tell it which camera to record. This makes navigating the recordings easier and more precise, and more allows you to keep key recording instances safe and secure for longer. Due to to everything being cloud free you can keep important recordings longer on local drives and the software requires no fancy or unknown publisher scripts or plugins to run.

Applications: Cash registers, loading bays, hidden rooms, garage doors, police stations, court rooms, interview rooms, universities, boardrooms, classrooms.

Industry: custom home, light/medium/heavy commercial and industrial, security

Privacy rating: High. Captive is a software to run on a local server. It requires no internet to record / view its video. Captive Systems currently does not have a cloud server for connection or back door to the server. It's a simple clean software developed for high privacy use cases that's why we like it. Also only one time fee, much like Loxone.

Usage:

1. You will have to contact Captive systems to get their software (https://captivesystems.ca/) and follow their instructions to download and install their Lite Server on your computer. 2. Once Captive is installed navigate to the server on any computer. (Remember the port e.g http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:8089) 3. Click on "CAMERA MANAGEMENT" 4. Once there click on "ADD NEW CAMERA: and put your camera details in the 5. Camera Name 6. Camera URL : we just use the IP address of the camera from the router (must give it static IP) 7. Login name for the camera (most are "admin") 8. Password for the camera 9. Audio settings: we just use "COPY" 10. Click "REGISTER" 11. After this you will get back to the "CAMERA MANAGEMENT" page where you will see your camera added with an ID number. **IMPORTANT** The ID number is what you need in Loxone to identify which camera to trigger the recording. The template will tell you where to put this number and how to adjust the length of recordings. 12. You can then click on the top left "ADMIN" button to go back to the main screen. 13. From here click on "VIDEO MANAGEMENT" 14. Once in the Modify Credential page

a. Enter the storage location for the videos (from the perspective of the server) b. Click "UPDATE" 9. Now test out the recordings and video playback.

Currently they don't let us change the time of recordings from Loxone, but we got around this by just creating multiple Virtual Outputs (VOs) in Loxone for different recording times. So for example if the door was still open after 5 seconds we know we need a longer recordings so we trigger a second VO for a longer period. PLEASE NOTE: we tried multiple recordings on the same camera for different lengths, the system didn't like it and generated no good recordings. Keep it simple.

You can also set multiple triggers with multiple time for the recordings. So the same camera can have multiple events triggering multiple recording times. So for example if the door opens while alarm is off it records for 5 seconds, but if the door is open when the alarm is on then it records for 900 seconds.

Questions and answers

  1. Where do I find Captive Video Server Software?

    Open

As I was reading through the template you put together, I entered the website given to access the software mentioned. However, it could not find this website under that address. I noticed you created this in 2022. Do you happen to know if the company was bought out or went under? If so, where can I find their new umbrella or have you found a new provider that does the same thing?
