Nibe (KNV) Heating & Cooling (F-Series)
Content languageEnglish
Description
A Nibe (KNV) heatpump is a Nibe heat pump for the Austrian market. The devices do not differ technically, only in their name. The Nibe (KNV) F series is an older Heatpump model series and can be integrated into Loxone with a Modbus 40 gateway.
The Nibe (KNV) S-series is the new Heatpump model series and is listed in a different template. There are two different ways how to connect Nibe F-Series with Loxone:
- Nibe Modbus 40 RTU Gateway with Loxone Modbus Extension - Nibe Modbus 40 RTU Gateway with a Loxone Modbus Air.
Modbus TCP is not supported! The datapoints between the F-series, S-series and Greenline from Nibe (KNV) differ significantly.
The choice of paring Nibe Systems with Loxone offers the possibility of:
- Integrating demand-based heating and cooling depending on e.g. presence or the protection of open windows - Active integration in interaction with e.g. PV- systems in a Loxone Energy Management - Using flexible electricity tariffs with the Spot Price Optimizer. - Use statistics ore individual notifications - Create your own individual schematics - Reduce cycles and operating hours of your Nibe Heatpump - Combining hybrid solutions e.g. Nibe Heatpump and PV- Heating element in your Hot Water Storage - Create e.g. yearly operation goals like certain annual runtime forces for hybrid systems e.g. (F1145 -->60% amount of energy, Gasboiler --> 40% amount of energy) to fulfill the requirements of your local government.
With our step by step manual for collecting the heating or cooling demand and forwarding it to the Nibe heatpump, we enable the interaction of the individual room control with the central heating/cooling system of Nibe. Please take a look on the Loxone Config sample file in the Library download area.

Nibe (KNV) helpcenter/download area/commissioning:
- You can find the Modbus 40 Gateway Manual below or the latest version at the document search. Choose your language, all accessories at the product group and modbus 40 at the product list. - If you need help how to deal with the integration of the "Modbus 40 Gateway" operation system or need general information, please use the multilingual Nibe homepage. Unfortunately, Nibe does not have all documents in their download area. Therefore, the documentation in our download area must always be checked for the latest version with the partner or seller for completeness and functionality. - The Nibe Modbus manager is required for Modbus communication with the Modbus 40 Gateway and 20 data points must be defined in advance. An explanation of how to use the Modbus manager can be found in the Modbus 40 manual. The parameter set is transferred to the Nibe heat pump control unit via a USB stick. - You can find the Modbus addresses and parameters for your F-Serial on OpenHab. For the F-Series 1145 for example in the following Link.

Hello Hendrik,
it looks like you have mismatched the connections. It need to be 10-B and 11-A.
More details:
Have you connected the Modbus40 module according to the installer handbook with the heat pump? https://professional.nibe.eu/document/Installer%20manual%20(IHB)/031725-10.pdf The connections of the Modbus 40 (AA9-X1) need to be connected to AA3-X4 on the heat pump. --> AA9-X1 12V to AA3-X4 12 --> AA9-X1 A to AA3-X4 11 --> AA9-X1 B to AA3-X4 10 --> AA9-X1 GND to AA3-X4 9
The Loxone module needs to be connected to Modbus40 (AA9-X2). Please don't forget the 120 Ohm termination resistor, see Screenshot in the Library.

Hello Hendrik,
please reply to my answers instead of opening a new thread for every message.
Read carefully the manual of the Modbus 40. You can choose 20 variables which should be read or written with your loxone system. Therefore you need the program "modbus manager" which is downloadable at the template webpage. Nowhere is written that you can change 20 settings. After choosing the variables you can transfer them as a "LOG.SET" file onto a USB stick which then needs to be connected to your heat pump. On the heat pump you need to activate the protocol.
